New Travelouge Delivers an Intimate and humorous,
look at life in Indonesia in, ‘JOURNEYS WITH THE CATERPILLAR: TRAVELLING
THROUGH THE ISLANDS OF FLORES AND SUMBA, INDONESIA’.
Shivaji
Das's ‘Journeys with the caterpillar: Travelling through the islands of Flores
and Sumba, Indonesia' brings a first-hand look to the beauty that can be found
in the midst of the grinding poverty that is sometime evident in these islands.
“The crowd lined the
street, shoulder to shoulder. Fathers held young boys high, the older children
climbing trees for better views. The pressure of the crowd built behind me,
while before us, an opening formed in the crowd. About fifteen men assembled
around a tied buffalo: the sacrifices were about to begin.”
The aforementioned is the style of writing Das uses to bring to
life his, ‘JOURNEYS WITH THE CATERPILLAR: TRAVELLING THROUGH THE ISLANDS OF
FLORES AND SUMBA, INDONESIA’.
Reminiscent
of the works of Paul Theroux and Elizabeth Gilbert, Shivaji Das' vivid
description of his journey through Indonesia is presented with beautiful photographs
about the landscape and people. These photographs have been exhibited in
galleries and photo festivals worldwide. ‘JOURNEYS WITH THE CATERPILLAR’, is
a fresh new approach that brings an entirely new perspective to travel
books.
